The “Heritage Ambassadors” training scheme is one of the activities included in the “Macao Heritage Promotion Plan”, which was launched by the Cultural Affairs Bureau in 2001. Contemplating both theory and practice, the course provides specialization in tourism and heritage conservation, including guided tours in Macau. Students can thus widen their knowledge about the cultural heritage of the city, while also broadening their vision, developing their independence and leadership skills, thereby evolving into apt and highly competent heritage ambassadors.
On 1 August 2004, these ambassadors established the “Association of Macao Heritage Ambassadors”, organizing a variety of initiatives, aimed at promoting the cultural heritage of Macao and raise citizens’ awareness of its conservation.
